Paddle Shifter Operation in Comfort, Normal and Sport Integrated Dynamics System (IDS) Modes
While in Econ, Normal or Sport IDS modes, special transmission logic programming allows the use of the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. When the driver operates the paddle shifters, the transmission responds to the driver’s shift command and then returns to its normal fully automatic mode if further paddle shift inputs are not made within a given time. This special logic makes it easy for the driver to command a quick downshift without leaving the convenience of Drive mode.

BENEFIT: Paddle shifters allow the driver to control transmission shifting without taking their hands off the steering wheel.

Sport Hybrid System (Sport Hybrid SH-AWD)

E-Drive System Layout

FEATURE: The MDX Sport Hybrid’s key hybrid components are laid out for maximum packaging efficiency. One electric motor is
positioned in the transmission housing and sends power to and captures regenerative braking energy from the front wheels. Two more
electric motors in the Twin Motor Unit (TMU) are positioned between the rear wheels.

The ATF-cooled Power Drive Unit (PDU) is located longitudinally, low in the vehicle between the front seats, while the Intelligent Power
control Unit (IPU) is placed immediately behind the rear seatback and contains the lithium-ion battery and Hybrid System Electronic
Control Unit.

The IPU is air-cooled via an integrated fan unit that draws air from inside the vehicle cabin via an intake duct located beneath the
rear seats.

To help ensure passenger safety, high-voltage hybrid system components are positioned in well-protected areas of the vehicle. In the
event of a collision that triggers the airbags, an automatic high-voltage circuit interrupt in the Intelligent Power Unit cuts power to the
hybrid system.

BENEFIT: All hybrid-related components are well integrated, leaving more room for passengers and cargo.

Front Electric Motor

FEATURE: The front motor is integrated with the 7-speed DCT and is connected to the driveshaft via a clutch. The 35-kilowatt
(47-horsepower) electric motor accomplishes three tasks:

1. It supplements the V-6 engine in driving the front wheels when additional power is required, such as in a passing situation.
2. It provides regenerative braking to the front wheels.
3. It converts engine power to electricity to supplement regenerative braking in recharging the lithium-ion batteries.

The motor’s operating temperature is optimized by a temperature-controlled flow of oil through the motor housing. By tightly controlling
the motor temperature, the motor’s torque output (both drive and regeneration) can be improved up to 100%.

BENEFIT: The MDX Sport Hybrid’s three-motor hybrid powertrain combines the power of a conventional V-8 engine with 4-cylinder-like
fuel efficiency1 and the performance-enhancing capabilities of torque-vectoring all-wheel drive.

Lithium-Ion Battery

FEATURE: Unlike the mechanical Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®) available in the non-Hybrid MDX, the MDX Sport
Hybrid’s electric SH-AWD operates independent of the gasoline engine; as the two rear-mounted electric motors dynamically apportion
both positive and negative torque directly to the rear wheels. This system provides for dynamic, immediate and always-on torque
vectoring capabilities while eliminating the weight and energy losses associated with a conventional driveshaft and differential
mechanism.
When cornering, the MDX Sport Hybrid delivers positive torque to the outside rear wheel, much like mechanical SH-AWD, to create a
yaw moment. Unlike conventional SH-AWD though, Sport Hybrid SH-AWD can also simultaneously apply regenerative brake torque to
the inside rear wheel during cornering to further enhance cornering control. This substantially magnifies the positive handling benefits of
SH-AWD across a much wider range of driving conditions.

BENEFIT: Sport Hybrid SH-AWD® provides superior all-weather handling and neutral, accurate steering under power that is unmatched
by front-wheel-drive, rear-wheel-drive or conventional all-wheel-drive systems.

Sport Mode

FEATURE: A selector button located on the center console allows the driver to toggle between “Sport” and “Normal” hybrid system operating modes.
Normal mode is aimed at typical driving. Sport mode, by contrast, puts the emphasis on a more responsive, direct feel. Sport mode offers gearshifts with a sporty feel, engine rpm “blips” on downshifts, and a more aggressive drive-by-wire throttle profile. In Sport mode, the MDX leaves a stop in first gear (instead of second gear), and VCM® and Idle Stop are cancelled.

BENEFIT: In addition Hybrid Sport mode maximizes performance for a more intense driving experience.

Twin Motor Unit (TMU)

FEATURE: The MDX Sport Hybrid’s SH-AWD’s Twin Motor Unit (TMU) is located in between the rear wheels. Inside its die-cast
aluminum housing are two 27-kilowatt (36 -horsepower) electric motors positioned side by side. Each motor powers one of the rear
wheels and can also regeneratively brake the same wheel. An electronically controlled clutch pack controls a planetary gear set to
control torque output and regenerative braking. The MDX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD can launch from a stop solely under electric power in
select situations, powered by the rear motors.

Independent control of the rear motors is a key feature of SH-AWD®. Depending on the conditions, such as when cornering, power
can be sent to the outside rear wheel, while the inside rear wheel undergoes regenerative braking. This torque differential helps to yaw
the MDX Sport Hybrid into the corner, improving steering response and reducing understeer. The same differential torque control can
help the MDX Sport Hybrid track straighter when traction is inconsistent. A clutch allows each motor to be decoupled from its wheel in
certain operating situations to improve efficiency.

BENEFIT: Drawing power from the lithium-ion battery pack, the Twin Motor Unit’s two electric motors deliver torque directly to the rear
wheels, thereby eliminating the weight and energy losses associated with a conventional driveshaft and differential mechanism.

3-Motor Hybrid System

FEATURE: The MDX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD uses a total of three electric motors.
One oil-cooled electric motor is positioned in the transmission case to drive the front wheels and capture energy from the front wheels
during regenerative braking.

A Twin Motor Unit (TMU) is positioned between the rear wheels, with the 260-volt lithium-ion battery that powers the system positioned
behind the rear seatback.

Each of the rear wheels is driven by one of the electric motors in the TMU, which can also capture energy from that wheel during
regenerative braking.

BENEFIT: The MDX Sport Hybrid’s three-motor hybrid powertrain combines the power of a conventional V-8 engine with 4-cylinder-like
fuel efficiency1 and the performance-enhancing capabilities of torque-vectoring all-wheel drive.

Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD)

FEATURE: The MDX is offered with Acura’s acclaimed Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD®), which progressively distributes optimum torque not only between the front and rear axles, but also between the left and right rear wheels to actually help turn the car. SH-AWD can further accelerate the outside rear wheel in turns, generating more turning force than most other all-wheel-drive systems. With cornering forces more evenly distributed between front and rear tires, overall cornering power is increased – on wet or dry roads. SH-AWD delivers more responsive, neutral and predictable handling performance, while providing outstanding all-weather control.

BENEFIT: SH-AWD® provides superior all-weather handling and neutral, accurate steering under power that is unmatched by front-wheel-drive, rear-wheel-drive or conventional all-wheel-drive systems.

Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (Sport Hybrid SH-AWD)

PERFORMANCE

Active Dampers (Sport Hybrid SH-AWD)

FEATURE: The MDX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD has exclusive Active Dampers that are (like those found on the NSX) controlled by the
Integrated Dynamics System through four distinct modes – Comfort, Normal, Sport and Sport+:

  • COMFORT: Emphasizes ride comfort and reduces road noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) to lowest levels ever for the MDX
    platform in urban driving.
  • NORMAL: Provides an ideal everyday balance of ride and handling for a wide range of conditions.
  • SPORT/SPORT+: Flattens and stabilizes the vehicle body during rapid steering inputs and maneuvers, improving tactile feel and
    overall responsiveness

BENEFIT: The MDX Sport Hybrid’s Active Dampers deliver a superb blend of handling performance and ride quality for everyday
driving pleasure.

Agile Handling Assist

FEATURE: Agile Handling Assist®2 works in near-the-limit cornering by using the brakes to create a yaw moment (turning motion),
helping the driver smoothly and easily trace the desired line with smaller steering-wheel inputs. Agile Handling Assist® stabilizes the car
earlier than conventional VSA®3, resulting in more agile and engaging dynamic performance in everyday driving conditions.
BENEFIT: Agile Handling Assist®2 helps improve cornering response during spirited driving.

Amplitude-Reactive Dampers

FEATURE: The shock absorbers feature two separate damping circuits with one tuned for maximum efficiency on smoother roads with
small inputs, and the other tuned to handle large inputs, such as rough roads, potholes and sudden steering and braking action.
These advanced units provide firm damping for stable, flat cornering while also having the ability to absorb big bumps for a smooth,
comfortable ride – like having two suspensions in one.
BENEFIT: Amplitude-reactive dampers provide outstanding ride quality and handling quality under a wide range of road conditions.

Chassis (Sport Hybrid SH-AWD)

FEATURE: The majority of the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD’s unit-body design and construction is common with the MDX, with a few
modifications to allow ideal component packaging. In the floor pan underneath the front seats, a recessed area is added to
accommodate the Intelligent Power Unit (IPU).

Additionally, the front subframe is modified appropriately for the MDX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD’s additional curb weight. The insulation
package is also modified to provide increased heat rejection and noise attenuation during operation of the lithium-ion battery pack,
controllers and cooling system.

BENEFIT: The MDX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD maintains a high level of ride comfort for passengers under a wide range of road
conditions.

Direct Injection (DI)

FEATURE: Compared to conventional engines, a direct-injection engine uses a fuel-delivery system that injects fuel directly into the
combustion chamber, as opposed to injecting the fuel into the intake port. The system works using high-pressure injectors, a highpressure
fuel pump and an ECU to precisely control the timing of the fuel injectors.

Along with allowing a higher compression ratio, the greater combustion efficiency provided by direct injection enables the engine to
deliver better power with greater fuel efficiency.1

Because the high-pressure fuel pump is a mechanical design, direct-injection systems tend to generate a slight ticking sound – a normal
characteristic. It is particularly noticeable when standing beside the vehicle while the engine is idling. Acura’s direct-injection system
is designed to run more quietly than most competing systems by using a damper inside the high-pressure pump. This helps provide a
more quiet idle and a more refined engine note during acceleration.

BENEFIT: Direct Injection (DI) helps deliver excellent engine performance without sacrificing fuel efficiency.1

Electric Parking Brake with Automatic Brake Hold

FEATURE: The electric parking brake helps make using the parking brake easier and more comfortable. The parking brake is engaged
by pulling up on a switch located on the center console. To release the parking brake, the driver simply puts the vehicle in gear and
presses on the accelerator pedal.

Automatic Brake Hold retains brake pressure when the vehicle is stopped, simplifying driving in heavy traffic or hills. Operating
Automatic Brake Hold requires two simple actions from the driver:

  • Activating/deactivating the system via a switch on the center console
  • Pressing on the brake pedal when the vehicle comes to a stop

Once these steps are taken, Automatic Brake Hold will indicate engagement and then maintain brake pressure when the vehicle has
come to a stop, even if the driver releases the brake pedal. The vehicle then remains stopped – even on a hill – until the driver presses
the accelerator pedal. At this point, Automatic Brake Hold releases the brakes and the vehicle resumes normal braking function.

BENEFIT: The electric parking brake provides a higher level of ease and sophistication when operating the parking brake, while the
Automatic Brake Hold feature helps ease the stress of driving in stop-and-go traffic.

Electric Power Steering (EPS)

FEATURE: The next-generation Motion-Adaptive Electric Power Steering (EPS) offers precise direct feel, high energy-efficiency, tunable
response and improved active safety. EPS responds instantly to steering input and automatically changes the amount of power assist
appropriate to the vehicle’s speed.

When compared to the operation of a conventional hydraulic-pump power-steering system, the simpler Motion-Adaptive EPS increases
efficiency because it does not draw a continuous amount of power directly from the engine.

Motion-Adaptive EPS and VSA®3 work together as one sophisticated system to significantly enhance active safety. The stability
technology initiates steering inputs that prompt the driver to steer in the correct direction when the limits of traction are approached.

Motion-Adaptive Electric Power Steering (EPS) also integrates with the Integrated Dynamics System (IDS). At the driver’s discretion, the
steering response can be calibrated to two distinct driving modes:

  • Econ and Normal modes
  • Sport and Sport+ modes

BENEFIT: When VSA®3 detects that the vehicle is not following the driver’s intended line, the system can vary the amount of steering
assist to encourage the driver to steer in the proper direction.

Electric Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) (Sport Hybrid SH-AWD)

FEATURE: In the MDX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD, the driveshaft and rear differential of a conventional all-wheel-drive system have been
eliminated and a separate electric motor drives each rear wheel. Each motor can also capture regenerative braking energy from its
associated wheel. When cornering, by applying power to the outside rear wheel while simultaneously capturing regenerative braking
energy from the inside rear wheel, the yaw effect of SH-AWD is greatly enhanced.
By sending a greater portion of the available power to the outside wheel in a corner, SH-AWD helps yaw the vehicle into the corner. It
also reduces the cornering load on the front tires, which helps reduce understeer and boost steering precision.
BENEFIT: Electric SH-AWD® is effective in a much wider range of driving situations than any previous mechanical system.

Electric Servo Brake System

FEATURE: The MDX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD’s electric servo brake system maximizes regenerative braking capability for improved fuel
efficiency. The braking system is fully hydraulic from the master cylinder all the way to the 4-wheel disc brakes, just like a traditional
braking system. The key difference is that the braking function is electronically controlled rather than a purely mechanical activation,
allowing regenerative braking from the front and rear electric motors to slow the vehicle, rather than the hydraulic friction brakes, under
most circumstances.

When the driver applies the brake pedal, a signal is sent to the vehicle’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU), which determines the
appropriate amount of braking force to assign to regenerative braking through the electric motors and to the hydraulic friction braking
system. In many cases, friction braking is not needed until the vehicle speed drops below 9 mph, as the vehicle slows to a final stop.

BENEFIT: Besides its payoff in fuel efficiency1, the system offers excellent feel and feedback for the driver through the brake pedal.

Electronic Gear Selector

FEATURE: The Electronic Gear Selector provides easy control of the transmission. Park, Neutral and Drive are selected with the push of
a button. Reverse is selected by pulling back a dedicated switch. Indicator lights near the buttons display the mode selected. A steering
wheel-mounted paddle shifter system lets the driver take manual control of transmission gear selection.

As an added convenience feature, if the vehicle is brought to a stop in Drive, the system will automatically select Park if the driver’s
seat belt is unbuckled and the driver door is opened. A car wash mode allows the vehicle to remain in neutral for conveyor-type car
washes.

BENEFIT: Electronic Gear Selector controls have an advanced appearance and are easy to use.

TRANSMISSION

9-Speed Sequential SportShift Automatic Transmission

FEATURE: This 9-speed automatic transmission is exceptionally sophisticated and smooth shifting. It features Grade Logic Control that allows the transmission to stay in a lower gear when going up or down hill for improved control. Shift Hold Control delays up-shifts while accelerating through a curve for improved performance. Standard steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters allow the driver to control up-shifts and down-shifts.

BENEFIT: This sophisticated transmission helps improve performance and fuel efficiency1, and adds to the overall driving experience.

Motor-Integrated 7-Speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) with Sequential SportShift Paddle Shifters (Sport Hybrid SH-AWD)

FEATURE: To maximize performance and fuel efficiency, the MDX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD has a standard motor-integrated 7-speed
Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). One clutch controls the odd gears, while the other clutch controls the even gears. This arrangement
allows gear changes with a much smaller interruption in power flow to the wheels, resulting in millisecond-quick shifts. Compared to a
conventional manual transmission, the operation of the clutches and shifting mechanisms are electronically controlled, eliminating the
need for a conventional clutch pedal or shift lever.

When in the Drive (D) position, the operation of the transmission is fully automatic. The driver can also take manual control of the
transmission using the standard steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

BENEFIT: The MDX Sport Hybrid’s motor-integrated 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission maximizes efficiency for greater performance
and fuel efficiency.1

Tires

FEATURE: Low rolling-resistance tires helps improve fuel efficiency. Tire rolling resistance is defined as the force required to keep a properly inflated tire rolling at a constant speed. The difference between low rolling-resistance tires and regular tires is the technology used to reduce rotational drag. This technology ranges from rubber compounds to sidewall construction to how the tread pattern rolls across the pavement. It is estimated that a 10% reduction in tire rolling resistance will result in a 1%–2% improvement in fuel economy ratings1. While this may not seem like much, it is one of many things Acura does to help improve fuel efficiency that includes exterior aerodynamics, weight reduction and advanced fuel management systems.

BENEFIT: Low rolling-resistance tires help improve fuel efficiency without sacrificing tire performance and handling.

Variable Cylinder Management (VCM)

FEATURE: Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) works in conjunction with the i-VTEC® system and Active Control engine Mounts (ACM) to help maximize fuel efficiency1 and lower emissions. When high power is required, such as during acceleration or climbing hills, the engine operates on all six cylinders. During periods of moderate-speed cruising and at low engine loads, the system operates just one bank of three cylinders, thereby helping to maximize fuel efficiency. To smooth the transition between activating or deactivating cylinders, the system adjusts ignition timing and Drive-by-Wire™ throttle position and turns the torque converter lockup on and off. As a result, the transition between 3- and 6-cylinder operation is usually unnoticeable to the driver.

BENEFIT:  VCM combines to help maximize performance and fuel efficiency1 – two characteristics that don’t typically coexist in conventional engines.

Interior Refinement

Active Sound Control

FEATURE: Active Sound Control is a key contributor to a quiet, refined interior. It is comprised of dual overhead microphones, an
electronic processor and the audio system’s speakers. The system operates whenever the engine is running, even if the audio system is
turned off. Active Sound Control is designed to reduce low-frequency sound in the cabin caused mainly by the roughness of the road
surface. The overhead microphones pick up sound waves and send them to the processor, which creates and sends a precisely timed
“reverse phase” audio signal to a special amplifier. In turn, the amplifier drives the door speakers to cancel the original noise signal.
BENEFIT: Active Sound Control helps enhance interior quietness and improve the driving experience.

the driver to choose faster, less-congested routes. The navigation screen can display regularly updated traffic information, including

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow

FEATURE: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with low-speed follow13 is designed to maintain a set following interval when it approaches
a detected vehicle. This vehicle speed- and distance-control system uses millimeter-wave radar mounted behind the front grille. In
addition, by combining radar and camera data with data from speed sensors, ACC can regulate vehicle speed to maintain a preset
following interval. Integration of camera information improves the system’s recognition of vehicles ahead and their relative lane
positions for better overall system performance.

The low-speed follow feature can reduce the driver workload in light traffic by maintaining a selected interval, even in stop-and-go
traffic. If a vehicle detected ahead is in range of the system and slows to a stop, the MDX will also come to a stop. With a press of the
RES/+/SET/ switch up or down, or with a press of the accelerator pedal, the MDX will resume low-speed follow mode.

Please review the appropriate section in the Owner’s Manual for detailed information and warnings.

BENEFIT: Adaptive Cruise Control with low-speed follow13 can reduce the stress of driving in traffic, while also providing an increased
level of assistance for the driver.

function cancels help with rearward vision.

Advance Package models provide auto-dimming side mirrors as well.

BENEFIT: Drivers experience greater comfort and confidence driving at night with reduce headlight glare from behind.

Automatic Climate Control System

FEATURE: The tri-zone automatic climate-control system lets the driver, front passenger and second-row passengers separately
adjust temperature and air distribution to suit their individual preferences. The automatic climate-control system maintains an interior
temperature selected by the driver or front passenger. The system then selects the proper mix of heated or cooled air to raise or lower
the interior temperature as quickly as possible. To prevent cold air from blowing in from outside, the fan may operate at low speed
for a few moments after the AUTO button has been pressed. A special humidity sensor automatically measures the cabin’s relative
humidity, and will automatically select the Defrost mode and adjust the temperature and fan speed to help prevent the windows from
fogging. This feature allows variable airflow between the windshield and lower vents, for greater occupant comfort.

Technology and Advance Package models use GPS7 and a solar sensor to determine on which side of the vehicle the sun is shining,
and automatically adjust the fan speed to compensate for solar heating on the driver’s or passenger’s side.

In addition to the button/switch controls, you can operate the climate-control system from the On Demand Multi-Use Display™
(ODMD™) touchscreen.

BENEFIT: The driver doesn’t have to constantly adjust the controls to maintain a comfortable cabin temperature.

handle, the rear door handles (on Technology and Advance Package models), or pressing the tailgate outer handle unlocks all doors.
When unlocking the vehicle, the exterior lights will flash twice and a beeper sounds twice. The light flash, beeper, and unlock settings
can be customized using the audio/information screen or Multi-Information Display (MID). As a security measure, if a door is not
opened within 30 seconds of unlocking the vehicle, the doors will automatically relock. The system will also prevent the doors from
locking if the remote is still inside the vehicle. Also, the remote allows you to check if your vehicle’s doors are all locked or any are
unlocked from distance up to 328 feet.

Pressing and holding the UNLOCK button on the remote enables the owner to roll down all the windows and open the sunroof to vent
the vehicle when approaching it on a hot day.

whenever the keyless access remote is receiving strong radio waves. Avoid placing it near electrical appliances, such as televisions
and personal computers

BENEFIT: This system enhances the ownership experience, recognizing when the owner is near and making operation of the vehicle
easier.

Updated Voice Recognition System

Beginning with models delivered in fall 2015, and also included in an available map update beginning in the same time period, new
system software is designed to provide enhanced system speed and voice recognition accuracy.

With a shortened list of available commands and a new six-category voice recognition portal, the update provides easy access to the
most commonly used commands, while improving voice recognition accuracy.

three-blink sequence.
BENEFIT: One-touch turn signals provide increased convenience for the driver when making routine lane changes.

Pandora Compatibility

FEATURE: Pandora®20 is a free music service that allows users to create personalized Internet “radio stations” based on favorite songs
or artists. When an iPhone®10 with the Pandora app is connected to the USB port9, Pandora can be opened and menus can be
selected that show up on the vehicle’s display and can be controlled by using the steering wheel-mounted controls or the selector knob
in the center console. If the vehicle is outfitted with navigation, Pandora information will appear on the navigation screen and can be
controlled by using the steering wheel-mounted controls or by using the interface dial on the center control panel.

When users enter a song or artist that they enjoy, Pandora responds by playing selections that are musically similar. Users then let
Pandora know whether they like the selection or not by choosing the “Like” or “Dislike” icons. The more a user interacts with Pandora,
the more information it will collect and use to determine future music selections.

BENEFIT: Clients have access to the latest technology to operate their own personal radio stations through the vehicle’s audio system to
enjoy their favorite music.

Rear Entertainment System (Technology and Advance Packages [N/A on Sport Hybrid])

ACURA DVD REAR ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM
(TECHNOLOGY AND ENTERTAINMENT PACKAGES)

FEATURE: The Rear Entertainment System (RES) features full VGA resolution. The screen folds down from the ceiling and the system can
be controlled through a detachable remote control. Music from the AM/FM stereo, SiriusXM® Satellite Radio11, DVD or CD can also
be enjoyed by using the rear headphones, while the front passengers can listen to a different audio source via the front speakers.

ULTRAWIDE ACURA DVD REAR ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM
(ADVANCE AND ENTERTAINMENT PACKAGES)

FEATURE: A state-of-the-art Ultrawide Rear Entertainment System (RES). At 16.2 inches, this display is the largest ever offered in an
Acura. It’s also the most versatile, because it can simultaneously screen two different sources of programming side-by-side, such as a
video game and a movie, for different passengers. The two programs being played can easily be switched from side to side, so the
viewers don’t have to change seats. The wireless headphones supplied with this system can be tuned to either input source as desired.
Note that dual-screen operation requires a client-provided compatible source device. Front-seat passengers can enjoy a different audio
program through the front speakers. Also, for greater versatility, the DVD player can be used as a CD player.

The Advance Entertainment RES features High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) technology for attaching high-definition players,
cameras, or other hardware. All Acura RES systems come equipped with RCA audio and video input jacks that enable a clientsupplied
compatible source device to be plugged in for viewing on the screen. The system can be operated by a remote control that
has an overhead storage attachment to reduce the chance of its being misplaced.

BENEFIT: The RES provides quiet for the driver and front passenger when rear-seat occupants are using the Personal Surround Sound™
headphones while viewing a DVD or playing video games.

Remote Engine Start with Vehicle Feedback (Technology and Advance Packages)

FEATURE: Remote engine start provides the ability to start the engine before you enter the vehicle. Pressing the LOCK button and then
holding the ENGINE button for a few seconds will start the engine. When the engine is started remotely, the wipers, lighting and
audio systems remain off, and the security system remains set. The engine will run for up to 10 minutes after remote starting and then
shuts off automatically, unless the driver’s door is opened and the START button is pushed.

This system also provides feedback to confirm whether the engine is running or the vehicle is locked. The remote has three LED
indicators: amber, green and red. To confirm engine start, press the LOCK button and then hold the ENGINE button for a few seconds.
The amber indicator will flash while the remote communicates with the vehicle. If the engine is running, the green LED will then
illuminate for one second. If the engine is not running, the red indicator will illuminate for one second.

To verify whether the vehicle is locked, press the LOCK button once. After the amber light comes on, either the green or red LED will
illuminate for one second to indicate that the vehicle is locked or not, respectively.

The remote is designed to have a range of operation of up to 328 feet. If the red LED flashes three times during operation, the vehicle
is out of the remote’s range.

Only use remote start in areas where starting the vehicle will not create a safety risk for others.

BENEFIT: This system can pre-warm the vehicle’s interior on a cold winter morning – or a pre-cool it on hot days. It also adds the
convenience and confidence of knowing that the vehicle is securely locked while the engine is running. Plus, it operates far beyond the
range of a typical remote engine-start system.

Smart Entry with Pushbutton Start

FEATURE: Smart Entry with pushbutton start allows the doors to be locked/unlocked and the engine started without having to remove
the remote from your pocket or purse. The doors can be unlocked or locked by pressing the soft-touch button located on either of the
front door handles while the remote is in your possession. Smart Entry also features a unique “quick vent” feature. By pressing the
“unlock” button on the remote for two seconds after unlocking the doors, the system lowers the front windows and opens the power
moonroof to quickly vent built-up interior heat.

BENEFIT: Smart Entry with pushbutton start adds convenience by eliminating the need to physically unlock the doors or trunk with a key
or remote, or start the vehicle with a key.

SMS Text Message and Email Functions

FEATURE: The SMS Text Message21 function can read incoming texts aloud over the audio system, and allow the driver to reply with
any of six factory preset messages. The system works with SMS-capable cell phones that have an active data plan and the Message
Access Profile (MAP), such as the BlackBerry®, Droid X and others.

Once a compatible phone is paired with the Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®6 system, the text messaging function is enabled.
When the phone receives a text message, an alert appears on the audio/information screen (or navigation screen in vehicles
equipped with navigation). Using the audio system controls, the driver can choose to have the message read aloud, select among the
preset reply choices or call the sender – all without handling their phone.

To minimize the potential for driver distraction, the ability to send text messages is limited while driving, but the driver is allowed to
choose from six convenient pre-written messages, which cannot be changed:

  • Talk to you later, I’m driving.
  • I’m on my way.
  • I’m running late.
  • OK.
  • Yes.
  • No.

The driver also has the option of selecting “Call,” which automatically calls the person who sent the text. The system will display up to
20 text messages and an unread message will display as an unopened envelope icon.

BENEFIT: This feature encourages responsible texting and gives drivers easy access to this handy communication system, providing an
important option for using a phone while driving.

Song By Voice (Technology and Advance Packages)

FEATURE: Song By Voice® allows owners to play music from the hard disk drive (HDD) system or compatible iPod®10 by simply giving
a voice command. For example, clients can say, “Play song ‘The One’” and the system will automatically begin playback. Clients can
select music by saying the song name, artist name, album name or even music genre.

Song By Voice allows drivers to find and play music selections from the hard disk drive (HDD) system or compatible iPod® by simply
pressing the TALK button on the steering wheel and saying “iPod Search” or “HDD Search.” The driver can then select music by saying
the song name, artist name, album name or even the music genre.

BENEFIT: Song By Voice® enables owners to control their HDD or iPod®10 music library with simple voice commands.

Steering Wheel-Mounted Controls

FEATURE: Steering wheel-mounted controls place a wide variety of functions and operations at the driver’s fingertips with easy-to-use
controls on the steering wheel. They consist of Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®6, cruise control, Multi-Information Display (MID) and the
audio system. On Technology and Advance Package models, there are also controls for the Acura Navigation System7 with Voice
Recognition™, which extends voice-recognition capability to the audio and climate controls. Certain models add controls for Lane
Keeping Assist System (LKAS)17 and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with low-speed follow.13

BENEFIT: The steering wheel is the command center for many functions, allowing drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and their
eyes on the road for enhanced confidence and convenience.

Surround View Camera System (Advance Package)

to cycle through various displays to aid during low-speed driving or parking situations.

Pressing the CAMERA button when the vehicle is stopped or traveling at 12 mph (20 km/h) or below will activate the system. If the
vehicle speed exceeds 15 mph (25 km/h), the surround view camera display automatically switches to the audio/information screen.
Pressing the CAMERA button at speeds above 15 mph (25 km/h) will display a standby screen until vehicle speed is reduced below
12 mph (20 km/h).

With the transmission in Park or Drive, press the CAMERA button to select one of the following frontal views:

FRONT GROUND VIEW
A front view will show on the left side of the display while an overhead view of the vehicle is displayed on the right. Use this view to
check for obstacles directly in front of the vehicle or when parking or maneuvering in confined areas.

FRONT WIDE VIEW
A wide front view will show on the full display. Use this view to check the right and left sides of the vehicle while crossing at
intersections with poor visibility.

LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE VIEWS
A split view of the left and right sides of the vehicle will display. Use this view to check for obstacles on either side of the vehicle or
when backing into or parallel parking in a lined parking space. This view can also be used when slowly passing oncoming vehicles
on a narrow road. When the side mirrors are folded, left and right side views cannot be displayed.

RIGHT SIDE VIEW
Displays a view of the right side of the vehicle. Use this view when parallel parking to gauge distance from the vehicle to the curb.
When the side mirrors are folded, the right side view cannot be displayed.

Safety

Advanced Airbag System (SRS)

FEATURE: The advanced airbag system23 uses weight sensors in the front passenger seat and a position sensor for the driver seat as
elements in determining the manner of deployment for the driver’s and front passenger’s front airbags. Based on input the SRS control unit
receives from these and other sensors, it can decide whether to deploy the airbags and adjust the deployment force and timing for both
front airbags. If the sensors detect the weight of a child (up to 65 lb. or 29 kg), the system will automatically turn off the passenger’s front
airbag.
BENEFIT: Advanced airbags are designed to supplement the seat belts to help reduce the likelihood of head and upper body injuries in
frontal crashes.23

Blind Spot Information System (Technology and Advance Packages)

FEATURE: Blind spot information24 uses radar sensors located in the rear bumper that can detect when another vehicle is alongside or just
to the rear in an adjacent lane. Depending on which side the other vehicle is detected, the system will illuminate a warning light located
near the outside rearview mirror. If the driver uses the turn signals to indicate a lane change, the system will issue an audible tone as well.
BENEFIT: Blind spot information24 adds convenience by helping alert the driver that a vehicle may exist in the driver’s blind spot.

Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)

FEATURE: The Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™)18 uses audio, visual and tactile signals to alert the driver to the risk of a
frontal collision. CMBS is one of the most sophisticated safety systems available. The system can even take action to reduce the forces of
a collision if the system determines one to be unavoidable.

STAGE 1
In the first stage, if there is a risk of a collision with a vehicle detected ahead, the system will flash a “Brake” warning in the MID.

STAGE 2
If the risk of a collision has increased further and the driver still takes no action, the second stage will continue the visual and audible
alerts, and apply light braking.

STAGE 3
If the driver still has taken no action and the system determines that a collision is now unavoidable, CMBS will continue the visual and
audible alerts, plus it will apply strong braking.

BENEFIT: CMBS™18 is designed to alert the driver to a potential collision and can take proactive action to help reduce collision forces if
one becomes unavoidable.

Driver’s Knee Airbag

FEATURE: Located below the steering column, the knee airbag23 is designed to help the driver maintain a proper position in a frontal crash
to maximize the protection provided by the front airbags and seat belt. The driver’s knee airbag will be deployed only in the event of a
sufficient frontal impact.
BENEFIT: The driver’s knee airbag helps enhance the driver’s protection in a frontal collision.23

Forward Collision Warning (FCW) System

FEATURE: Forward Collision Warning (FCW)25 can detect vehicles ahead, determine if a collision is likely and alert the driver. The
system uses a camera mounted in the upper portion of the windshield to detect vehicles ahead and determine whether a collision is
likely. It also features millimeter-wave radar to detect vehicles. If the system detects a vehicle in front of the car and determines that a
collision may occur, it will trigger visual and audible alerts. A “Brake” message appears on the MID and a series of beeps sound to alert
the driver to apply the brake pedal. The FCW will not automatically brake and the driver remains responsible for safely operating the
vehicle and avoiding collisions.

BENEFIT: Forward Collision Warning (FCW)25 can reduce the stress of driving in traffic while also providing an increased level of active
safety for the driver.

Hill Start Assist

FEATURE: Hill start assist offers drivers additional convenience when starting to drive uphill or downhill. It will hold the brake pressure
when stopped on an incline or descent for a brief period of time, allowing the driver’s foot to move from the brake pedal to the
accelerator without having the vehicle start to move backward.

Hill start assist may not prevent the vehicle from rolling downhill on a very steep or slippery slope, and will not operate on small inclines.

Hill start assist is not a replacement for the parking brake.

BENEFIT: Hill start assist enhances confidence by allowing the driver to make smooth, sure takeoffs when driving in hilly terrain.

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) System

FEATURE: The Lane Departure Warning (LDW)26 system is designed to alert the driver if the vehicle is leaving a detected lane without a
turn signal activated. LDW uses a camera mounted behind the windshield near the rearview mirror. The camera is designed to recognize
lane markings, so the system can detect when the vehicle is about to leave its lane. The system engages at speeds from 45 to 90 miles
per hour on relatively straight or slightly curved roads.
BENEFIT: LDW26 can help reduce the stress of driving on the open road while providing an increased level of active safety for the driver.

Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)

FEATURE: The Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)17 is designed to assist a driver in maintaining proper lane position when lane markings
are identified without a turn signal in use. The system uses a windshield-mounted camera to look for lane markers and a steering-wheel
actuator. The system is able to identify Botts’ Dots and other lane markings, and works at speeds of 45 mph and higher. The system
will not work at speeds above 90 mph. If LKAS determines that the vehicle is deviating from a detected lane with no turn signal in use,
LKAS applies mild steering torque to assist in bringing the vehicle back to center. This can be especially useful when traveling on narrow
roadways, such as carpool lanes.
BENEFIT: LKAS17 helps to enhance steering precision and provides a more relaxing driving experience on narrow roadways.

Next-Generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) Body Structure

FEATURE: The next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure is the latest generation of Acura’s
proprietary ACE™ body structure design. ACE is an exclusive body design that enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility
in frontal crashes. It uses a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the
vehicle, helping to reduce the forces transferred to the passenger compartment. It can help to more evenly disperse the forces transferred
to other vehicles in a crash as well. ACE also helps reduce the chances that one vehicle will override another, improving crash
compatibility of vehicles that differ in size.

The next-generation ACE goes further by offering additional strength and protection in small overlap frontal collisions, which are among
the most severe.

BENEFIT: This enhanced frontal crash-energy management is designed to help reduce the likelihood of occupant injury in a frontal crash,
making for greater client confidence.

Parking Sensors (Advance Package)

FEATURE: Front and rear parking sensors use ultrasonic-wave technology to detect obstacles. If an object is detected, the system will
sound an audible alert and can display a warning icon in the Multi-Information Display (MID). The alert varies depending on how far
away the object is from the vehicle. The system begins with slow, intermittent beeps when an object is first detected at a distance and
progresses to quick intermittent beeps as the vehicle gets closer to the object. The system will sound a continuous beep when the object is
very near and within a few inches of the vehicle.
BENEFIT: Parking sensors help give drivers improved confidence when maneuvering in tight spaces.

Rear Cross Traffic Monitor (Technology and Advance Packages)

FEATURE: Rear Cross Traffic Monitor19 warns the driver when an approaching vehicle is detected while backing up. The system uses
radar sensors located in the rear bumper that can detect when another vehicle is approaching from either side of the vehicle. If another
vehicle is detected while backing up, such as reversing out of a parking spot, the system will issue an audible tone and on-screen arrows
to alert the driver.
BENEFIT: Rear Cross Traffic Monitor19 helps improve driver confidence when backing out of a parking spot.

Road Departure Mitigation System

FEATURE: The Road Departure Mitigation27 system can recognize when the vehicle may be leaving a detected lane or the roadway
itself, and then applies the brakes and generates steering torque to help the driver keep the vehicle in the lane or on the road.
The system uses a windshield-mounted camera to look for lane markers, and a steering-wheel actuator. The system is able to identify
Botts’ Dots and other lane markings, and works at speeds of 45–90 mph (72–145 km/h).

If Road Departure Mitigation determines that the vehicle is deviating from a detected lane with no turn signal activation by the driver, or
the vehicle is leaving the roadway, it will apply the brakes and attempt to steer the vehicle back into the proper lane.

Road Departure Mitigation setting is Warning Only: The system beeps and a message appears in the MID.

Road Departure Mitigation setting is Normal or Wide: The steering wheel vibrates, the system beeps and a message appears in the
MID. Braking may also be applied if the lane lines are solid and continuous.

BENEFIT: Road Departure Mitigation27 helps to alert the driver to undesired lane or road departures, and takes active countermeasures to
help the driver bring the vehicle back into its lane of travel.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

FEATURE: Located in the Multi-Information Display (MID), the TPMS28 graphic indicates the pressure in all four tires on a real-time basis.
A TPMS icon illuminates to alert the driver whenever any of the tires has a significantly low-pressure reading that requires the driver’s
attention.
BENEFIT: TPMS28 helps the driver maintain proper air pressure to improve driving safety and fuel efficiency1, as well as reduce wear and
tear on the vehicle’s tires.

Tire Sealant and Inflator Kit (2WD; Sport Hybrid SH-AWD)

FEATURE: The Tire Sealant and Inflator Kit provides an auxiliary air or tire sealant to fill or repair a tire puncture when traveling on the
road. Lifting the cargo floor reveals the Tire Sealant and Inflator Kit. The kit contains a 12-volt compressor, an air pressure gauge and tire
sealant in a compact, lightweight package. Two hoses are available, one for air only and one for air and sealant.

To operate the Tire Sealant and Inflator Kit, remove it from the trunk and place it next to the tire needing repair. Next, plug the power
cord into the 12-volt power outlet located in the center console and start the vehicle’s engine.

Air Only: To add air to a low tire, select AIR ONLY on the rotary dial. Attach the [black] AIR ONLY hose to the tire’s valve stem and turn
the inflator switch to the ON position. Continue to add air to the tire until the Tire Fill Assist sounds. To check that the pressure gauge
reaches the proper inflation pressure, turn off the compressor and read the gauge. When the desired pressure is reached, detach the
hose and return the unit to the vehicle’s trunk.

Sealant and Air: To seal a punctured tire, select SEALANT AND AIR on the rotary dial. Attach the [clear] SEALANT AND AIR hose to the
tire’s valve stem and turn the inflator switch to the ON position. When the sealant injection is complete, continue to add air to the tire
until the Tire Fill Assist sounds. To check that the tire has reached its proper inflation pressure, turn off the compressor and read the gauge.
When the desired pressure is reached, detach the hose and return the unit to the vehicle’s trunk. Apply the speed restriction label to the
inside of the left windshield pillar before driving the vehicle.

To distribute the sealant in the tire, drive the vehicle for approximately 10 minutes without exceeding 50 mph. Stop and recheck the air
pressure by attaching the [black] AIR ONLY hose on the Tire Sealant and Inflator Kit. If the tire pressure has not gone down after 10
minutes of driving, continue to the nearest dealer or tire repair facility. If the tire’s pressure has gone down but is above 19 psi, add air,
drive another 5 minutes and check the pressure again. If the tire’s pressure is 19 psi or below, do not add air or continue driving the
vehicle. Instead, contact a dealer or a Roadside Assistance to have the vehicle towed.

The Tire Sealant and Inflator Kit should not be used in the following situations:

  • The tire sealant has expired. (The date is printed on the sealant bottle.)
  • More than one tire is punctured.
  • The puncture or cut is larger than 3/16 inch (4 mm).
  • The tire sidewall is damaged or the puncture is outside the tire tread contact area.
  • Damage has been caused by driving with the tire extremely under-inflated.
  • The tire bead is no longer seated.
  • The rim is damaged.

Do not remove a nail or screw that has punctured the tire. If removed, the tire may not be repairable using the Tire Sealant
and Inflator Kit.

Available for purchase is a compact Accessory Spare Tire Kit. All vehicles have a dedicated storage area and anchoring point located
below the cargo floor. If a compact spare tire is used, the under-floor storage or available cargo bin system will need to be removed. A
vehicle jack and lug wrench will also be included in the Accessory Spare Tire Kit.

BENEFIT: The Tire Sealant and Inflator Kit is easy to use and provides peace of mind should an underinflated tire or puncture occur on
the road.

Trailer Stability Assist (SH-AWD; not available on Sport Hybrid SH-AWD)

FEATURE: When the vehicle and trailer become unstable while driving, trailer stability assist determines the cause. Trailer towing sway
can be caused by the following conditions:

  • Crosswinds
  • Improper towbar down load
  • Excessive vehicle speed

If the trailer oscillation is detected as the cause, and the swaying increases, the system applies the brakes or controls engine output to
reduce vehicle speed.

Both the vehicle and trailer brake lights come on automatically if you brake to reduce vehicle speed.

Trailer stability assist is not a function that prevents the vehicle and trailer from swaying. Avoid high speeds, abrupt steering, improper
trailer load, and sudden braking to keep the trailer from swaying.

The VSA®3 system indicator blinks during the trailer stability assist operation.

When towing more than 3500 lb. (1590 kg), the use of gasoline with a pump octane number of 91 or higher is recommended.

BENEFIT: Trailer Stability Assist helps enhance vehicle stability while a trailer is being towed, for greater driver confidence.
