Car Maintenance Schedule: General Recommendations

Staying on top of your Acura TLX service intervals will ensure you never have to worry about issues on your Bridgewater commute. To do that, you’ll need to use your Acura Maintenance Minderâ„¢. But if you’re looking for some general recommendations to get a quick idea of whether you’re behind on your Acura TLX oil change intervals, or you drive an older Acura TLX that doesn’t feature Acura Maintenance Minderâ„¢, here are a few recommendations:

  • Oil Change: Have your oil changed every 6 months or 7,500 miles.
  • Battery Replacement: Your battery should be replaced about every three to four years. Watch for trouble starting your car or any leaking from your battery, which indicates that you need immediate service.
  • Coolant Replacement: Every two to three years, have your coolant replaced.
  • Brake Pad Replacement: Your brakes should be inspected, and your brake pads replaced about every 30,000 and 60,000 miles. Watch for a squishy brake pedal, or squeaking noise when applying the brake.
  • Brake Fluid Replacement: Your brake fluid should be replaced every two years.
  • Transmission Fluid Replacement: Transmission fluid should be drained and refilled every 30,000 to 60,000 miles for a manual transmission and at about 60,000 to 100,000 miles for an automatic.
  • Tire Rotation Service: Your tires need to be rotated every six months or 7,500 miles. Tire rotation helps prevent your tires from wearing down unevenly or prematurely.
  • Tire Replacement: Watch your tire tread. Typically, you’ll need a new set of tires between 25,000 to 50,000 miles.
