When it comes to learning how to do a tire rotation, it’s a basic process that we can walk you through at Springfield Acura in Springfield Township. You will want your tires to be in the best condition as you cruise those Bridgewater roads. Follow our guide below then contact our service center with any questions!

Why Should I Learn How to Do a Tire Rotation?

Before you learn how to do a tire rotation, you should understand why they are important. Due to changes in road conditions and driving habits through Staten Island, not all of your Acura tires will wear evenly. If you choose not to rotate your tires, overtime they will wear down at different rates through Union County which will leave you with no choice but to completely replace them.

How Often Should You Rotate Your Tires?

Once you learn how to do a tire rotation, you will want to rotate your tires every 5,000-7,500 mile or every 3,000 to 5,000 miles if you have All-wheel drive.

Tire Position Importance: FWD vs. RWD

  • FWD Tires: Move the front tires to the back of the car in the same left/right positions. Then move the rear tires to the front, but you have to switch the right and left tire.
  • RWD Tires: The opposite is true with RWD vehicles.

How to Do a Tire Rotation

Before you complete a tire rotation, you will need to have a car jack, lug nut wrench, and a set of car jacks. Follow these steps on how to do a tire rotation:

  1. Put your vehicle in park.
  2. Loosen the lug nuts on all four wheels, do not completely take them off.
  3. Lift up one wheel with a car jack and place the jack stand underneath it.
  4. Remove the tires one by one.
  5. Check that your tires are filled with optimal pressure. Then rotate them according to the appropriate pattern for your type of tires. Place the tire back onto the wheel mount and screw the lug nuts on by hand.
  6. Lower the car from the jack stands and use the lug wrench to finish tightening the nuts. Work the lug nuts diagonally in a star pattern.
